Office: BSW 119

Linnea is working on new protocols that use high-throughput barcoding and next-generation genomic sequencing to track rates of inbreeding in introduced populations of Canary Island St. Johnswort.

Andrew Cummings

Office: BSW 119

Andrew is mastering the latest technology in next generation sequencing: the Ion Torrent Personal Genome Machine.  We have our very own PGM in the lab, and Andrew is working to leverage this and other next-gen technologies to study the evolution of inbreeding depression in invaders.

Undergraduate Researcher

Seth W Smith

Seth is fascinated by the ability of traits to evolve in response to new environments.  He is studying how phenotypic variation in native source populations translates to phenotypic variation in genetically admixed populations, like those of invaders.

Undergraduate Researcher

Janelle Cocio

Janelle has been gardening since she was little, including hand pollinating her own plants.  Now she's crossing yellow starthistle populations to better understand how genetic admixture affects the spread of invaders.

Undergraduate Researcher

Wendy Wong

Wendy is eager to learn how genetic tools can help us answer big questions, and she's a wiz in the lab!  She is extracting and sequencing DNA to better understand the sources of genetic variation in invaders.
